Q |
I receive a message saying "Unable to locate an PSP. Please attach your PSP and try again." , even though iTunes
does recognize that an PSP is attached. |
|
A |
PSPDA accesses the PSP as a hard drive.
If you are using iTunes, make sure you have turned on "Enable disk Mode" in the PSP settings.
|
|
Q |
After syncing, I have
duplicates contacts or calendars on my PSP. |
|
A |
This is caused by more than one
program syncing contact or calendar information
to the PSP. The most common scenario is
iTunes and PSPDA. To stop iTunes from
syncing do the following:
- Open iTunes.
- Connect your PSP and
wait for it to appear in the iTunes Source list.
- On the Edit menu, click
Preferences.
- Click the PSP tab.
- Click the Contacts tab
under the PSP tab.
- Un-select the
"Synchronize contacts from" checkbox.
Before syncing again,
press the Reset button in the Advanced options
in PSPDA.

|
Q |
When I start a sync, Outlook keep displaying a
message saying something is trying to access my
data and I have to select Yes each time.
Is there any way to get rid of this message box?
|
|
A |
There is no option in Outlook to turn this message
off, but there is a utility that will
automatically select yes for you called
Express ClickYes.
|
|
Q |
Can I use PSPDA with a Mac
formatted iPod |
|
A |
PSPDA accesses the PSP as a hard drive
so you would require a program like
XPlay for
MacDrive from
Mediafour.
|
|
Q |
My PSP constantly resets itself after syncing |
|
A |
This is caused when characters that the PSP does not like are exported to it from Outlook. PSPDA contains
filters to try and catch these characters, but there may still be offending characters that have not been identified.
To stop the PSP from resetting,
- Connect your PSP to your computer.
- When the Apple icon appears on the display, immediately press and hold the Previous and Next buttons
until the "Do not disconnect" screen or FireWire icon appears.
- Start PSPDA and press the Reset button in
the Advanced options.
This will remove any files that have been placed on your PSP by PSPDA.
If you would like to help identify and remove these offending characters, please send me the files from your
PSP’s Contacts and Calendars folders before performing the reset operation above. I will examine the files and attempt to identify the
offending characters and add them to PSPDA’s filters. eMail files to
support@PSP-sync.com

This error may be caused by items in Outlook that have conflicting edits. You can locate and resolve these
conflicts by:
- Open the folder list view in Outlook by clicking on "View/Folder List". For a folder list view sample
- Highlight one of the folders (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, or Notes) where you suspect the problem
exists, and change its view to ‘By Category'. To do this click on "View/Current View/By Category".
- Sort the records ‘By icon’. To do this, click the folded page icon in the title bar above the category
heading.)
- Click on the "+" sign next to the "Category" heading and scroll down until you find one or more items
with a crossed swords icon. Click here to see a picture of a "crossed sword" icon.
- Double-click on the item with crossed-swords and from the "Conflict Resolution" window select to keep
the item with the most recent date.
- Synchronize.
To help prevent this problem from recurring, synchronize "all folders" with your Exchange Server on a regular
basis. To do this, in Outlook click on "Tools/Synchronize/All Folders". Also make sure the setting "When online synchronize all folders
upon exiting" is checked by going to "Tools/Options", "Mail Services" tab and look under the "Enable offline access" option for this
setting.
